Signing My Book Contract!

We interrupt today’s scheduled Your Lines programming for a very special announcement:

My book contract came!!

For weeks, I have been sprinting out to the mailbox, holding my breath as I opened it, hoping and praying that it was the day.  A part of me feared that this whole book deal thing was somehow a figment of my imagination, that I had dreamed the whole thing up and it would never actually materialize. I’ve been fighting down panic that I would be eating my words in announcing that I would be an author to the world…

But yesterday, that all changed. When I walked to the mailbox and found this:

That’s it folks–an official publishing house!

In my excitement, I immediately called the girls out and the hubs to take a picture. Luckily for me, the one pair of shorts that fit me (so what if they are still maternity shorts, huh? Don’t judge me.) was in the wash, so I had donned an actual sundress for the sweltering day. And we celebrated, right there in front of the mailbox.

It didn’t take long to tear into that bad boy. So surreal to see my name on a letter for my book.

Is this really happening??

Jake was pretty pumped about all the commotion. As you can tell.

After looking over the fine print, it was time to sign.

Note: It is helpful to have someone go over the contract with you. Preferably, someone who can read. But in a jam, your two-year-old will also suffice.

And there you have it.
